I Have a Dream

I have posted a link to Martin Luther King's famous speech. If you have problems with the video or audio, the speech is also written out. If you only read one part of the speech, read the end (from the line "Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.") This is the part where he talks about his dreams.

Here are some of his words from that speech:

Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.

And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day . . one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.I have a dream today!

How important are dreams to agents of social change? What dreams do you have for society and the world? What can you do to make these dreams come true? Can you realise your dreams (make your dreams come true) alone? Who can help you?

What does Martin Luther King teach us as agents of social change?

I think Martin Luther King teaches us that you have to stand up for your self, not be a bystander and let them do what ever they're doing. Also in his "I HAVE A DREAM" speech he says it doesn't matter if you're black,or white you can still be friends, sisters or brothers. You can't be mean to them you have to treat them equally.

Dr.Martin.Lr.King.Jr is not only a agent of change, but also the resum stopped for him and Rosa Park who was in the jail that time for standing up against Resum...
I think Barak Obama can also be a agent of change if he tries his best to stop resum althoug it doesn't happen alot now...
Dr.Martin.Lr.King.Jr's I have a Dream Speach was the trongest speach anyone has said...He is also the only one who tried to change the world and was never tired of anything.

Dreams are important to agents of social change because without a dream, you can't do anything. The beginning of setting a goal is to have a dream. I have a dream that Canada and any other countries in the world will not have poverty. There will be justice everywhere. I know that this will happen one day. I can make this dream come true by telling people to have justice like being nice to each other and never fighting and there won't be any poverty if people my age start donating and caring about those who live in poverty and trying to help them. I can't realise this dream on my own. I will have to have the people I tell, spreading the words so more people know and so more people can do something about it. The thing that Martin Luther King Jr. teaches us about agents of social change is that things can't happen in a blink of an eye. Things need support, they need to be agreeable to other people. Not just you. if you spread the words, then a lot of people will know. And when a lot of people know, things can start to change. And I know that this is true. Because things like this has happened to me but not with social things but with goals that I try to set myself sometime.

a dream is sometimes like a goal.Martin luther king dreamed what he wanted to happen in the world,he wanted people to not to be juged by their skin, but by their characteristics, and that is what is happpening in the world today.but that doesnt mean the world cant improve no more,in this world, nothing is perfect, ever!

Martin Luther King teaches us that you can't judge people by their skin colour. If you keep on thinking then you will find out that the people who have a different skin colour are human beings just like you. So treat other people the way you would want to be treated.

Akif R said...

he is telling us it dosent matter what ur skin couler is you can be friends with anybody and he tells us that every humans have equel rights.

To add to my last comment, I just want to say that an example of one of my goals is that its almost the same thing as the method of changing something about then world. I really don't thing that goal was the right word but maybe breaking a bad habit. When you want to break a bad habit you have to try. You have to try hard enough so you can actually stop, maybe biting your nails! You sometimes might need the help of your parents or friends. They need to support you and you have to try. If you don't give up, then you can get rid of the habit. But if you give up, your habit will never change. I bite my nails! I try to get rid of the habit but it is really hard. I always try to stop biting my nails but it really is HARD!

I think that Martain Luther king junior encouraged us to stop racisim and to never give up and that we should treat others the way we want to be treated. That is the golden rule that we should follow in order to be happy.Barack Obama's(or should I say President Barack Obama)inaugaration was on Monday January 20th 2009 at 12:00pm he delivered an 18 minute speech and I felt that Obama was actually giving an invatation to stop racism all around the world.I still can't belive that Barack Obama is our 44th first black American president.I can finally take a breath of peace.I am so happy that George Bush is finally not President.Yahoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I think Martain Luther King Jr is trying to say that people should stand up for there self and others. In his speech "I Had A Dream" everyone has equal rights!

I think that Dr.Martin Luther King teaches us that if we have a dream, we should keep it and believe that maybe one day, it might come true. He also teaches us that some goals are hard to accomplish but if you stick to your goal and not give up, you might have a chance of it being fullfilled. If Martin Luther King gave up on his dream, America would not have any coloured people in their country and maybne even slavery would not have even stopped. I think that if you want to accomplish something, you have to have a dream because if you want to accomplish something without a dream of it being accomplished, its like you dont really want to make it happen. So that's why I think it's important to have a dream of it being fullfilled.

I think Martin Luthar King teaches us that we have the rights to stand up for your self.If you have a dream[a very strong one] you have to be brave. If you are scared to do what ever you thought in your dream[and you really want to fulfil it] there is no point because you are to scared but keep on tring you might get a chance some day in yor life to fulfil your dream.
We ARE ALL LIKE BROTHERS AND SISTERS [WE ARE ALL HUMAN BEINGS]AND WE HAVE ALL EQUAL RIGHTS AND SO WE HAVE TO RESPECT OUR EQUAL RIGHTS.
wE ALL HAVE TO TREAT OTHERS THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED.
If someone is hurting other poeple rights we should reimind them that they shuold treat others the way you want to be treated.

remember we have all equal rights.

Dreams are very important to agents of Social Change because without them, they will never be able to dream of a better world or whatever it is that they want to change. I have a dream that one day around the world there will never be war! I can try to act peacefully and people might start following. Soon in the future hopefully WAR will be over! No, I can not realise my dreams alone because WAR is a huge problem around the world and I cannot possibly stop it alone. My family and friends can help me realise my dreams and everybody I know can help me as well.
